Stories I'm reading: Spreading some Christmas cheer...

Nick Stabile--What do you do with a guy who thinks he's the son of Santa?

Mythology: The DC Comics Art of Alex Ross--Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. This coffee table extravanganza breathtakingly showcases how one man "single-handedly redefined comic book art" from his early childhod sketches to the watercolor masterpieces he paints today. Read interviews here and here.

"I could not believe it. What man gives you a toilet seat for Christmas?"

Stories I'm reading:

Halo and Sprocket: Welcome to Humanity--If it weren't for the free online preview, I wouldn't have ended up buying this trade paperback collection of the misadventures of a human, a robot, and an angel by Kerry Callen. Sometimes it's nice to break away from superheroics from time to time.

What if men exclusively raised their children? :)

Stories I'm reading:

Sauron, farewell, aufwiedersehen goodnight--There isn't anything I can add to what's already been said about The Return of the King aside from "Was it good for you too?" I know it's an insipid comment from me especially how I gushed over the last two installments, but I am still reeling from the utter awe I experienced last night and literally at a loss for words that can do this movie justice. Better to let other more articulate, level-headed people take it from here. :) Prepare to be spoiled by Harry, Moriarty, CHUD, NYT and Salon.

A Tale of Two Towers--One can only imagine what infernal pain Peter Jackson had to go through in order to cut out scenes (thankfully restored in this extended edition) for the sake of time. Salon

Today, the 17th of December, marks the 17th month of the site's existence, and as much as I have wanted to "come up with something special" like how I mentioned a year ago, I simply haven't had the time. Some of you may have noticed the dearth of original works from yours truly. Thing is, writing takes a lot out of me, and even though surfing for new stories and sites requires less thinking, it has taken its toll after a while. In fact, it's all I can do to keep up with the daily updates that started four months ago.

Now with the year winding down, I've been considering what to do with the site and with myself come January. I haven't made up my mind on exactly what, but certainly this couch potato needs to stop vegging out and start getting some sunshine! If my plans push through, you'll probably be seeing less of me in terms of updates but hopefully of some unwanted weight as well. ;) Suffice to say that I've found myself tired, rundown, and listless, not to mention pooped out at parties.

In any case, enjoy the rest of the month, and if you've been a good little boy this year, you may have something nice in your stocking for Christmas.
